Bookkeeper steals more than £92,000 from employer for IVF

Bookkeeper steals more than £92,000 from employer for IVF

A court has heard that a bookkeeper who wanted another child stole more than £92,000 from her employer for IVF treatment.

Debbie Stevenson, 37, had originally stolen money for IVF, however she continued to defraud her employer for two years following the birth of twins following the successful treatment in Greece.

This case again highlights the importance of ensuring that precautionary measures are put in place, for example an enforced annual holiday of two weeks where checks are made on the work of any individual in a role which carries a high risk of fraud.
