GQ|Littler appoints new partner - Cerys Williams

Press Release - 28 November 2019

GQ|Littler, the specialist employment law firm, has announced the appointment of Cerys Williams as a partner. Cerys has over 20 years’ experience, including senior roles at leading international firms King & Wood Mallesons and Fasken Martineau, where she was head of employment law. She has been ranked as a leading UK lawyer by leading directories Chambers & Partners and Legal 500.

Cerys is experienced across the full spectrum of employment law, with a particular focus on advising clients in the professional services, technology, financial services and natural resources sectors. Her sector and international expertise supports GQ|Littler’s strong offering in these sectors and advising international companies on their employment issues across the globe. Cerys’ experience includes:

  • Defending a private equity house against claims asserted by a senior employee for bonus, carried interest and misrepresentation valued by the claimant at over $5m.
  • Advising financial services sector businesses on the employment/regulatory interface, including the application of the FCA and PRA remuneration codes, approved person regime/SMCR and regulatory reference obligations.
  • Advising on the employment aspects of a wide variety of high profile M&A deals, carve out deals and spin out transactions.
  • Advising a FTSE 250 PLC on the dismissal of board member including entitlements under complex incentive plans, issues under the director’s remuneration rules and notification under the listing rules.

GQ|Littler has expanded significantly since becoming part of Littler, the world’s largest specialist employment law firm, in 2017. Cerys’ appointment, following that of Philip Cameron earlier this year, signifies the firm’s continued growth strategy.

Managing Partner Jon Gilligan comments: “We are really delighted to welcome Cerys to the firm. Since we have become part of Littler we have seen rapid growth in client demand. Cerys’ expertise and international experience will further enhance our client proposition and help us deliver our growth strategy.”

Senior Partner Paul Quain adds: “We are looking forward to working together with Cerys to provide expert strategic guidance to companies and partnerships over a broader range of markets and sectors as well as developing our existing strengths in financial and professional services and technology. We think she will complement perfectly our dynamic team.”

Cerys Williams says: “I am really excited to be joining GQ|Littler. It seems to me the perfect blend of innovation and client focus, which delivers real value to businesses.”
