Growth drives City move for GQ Employment Law

Press Release - 10 December 2012

Bigger premises will support future growth for ‘magic circle boutique’

City firm GQ Employment Law is moving to new offices with effect from 2 January 2013 to support its continued growth. Founded in 2010, the firm has grown from its original two founding partners to a total of seven, including partners, fee earners and staff. The firm’s revenues have doubled each year since its foundation and this trend looks set to continue in the current financial year.

Jon Gilligan, one of GQ’s founding partners comments: “When we set up the firm our goal was to create a new type of legal provider: a “magic circle boutique” combining a team of top quality lawyers delivering highly commercial advice and providing a genuine work-life balance for employees.

“Response from clients to this approach has been extremely positive with the result that we have outgrown our current premises and need further room for expansion. The new offices in Ironmonger Lane give us this space, plus better meeting facilities in the heart of the City, where most of our clients are based.”

The firm’s new address from 2 January 2013 is
21 Ironmonger Lane
London EC2V 8EY
All GQ’s phone and email details remain unchanged.

2012 has seen a number of positive developments for GQ. In September 2012, founding partners Jon Gilligan and Paul Quain were joined by Darren Isaacs, formerly head of employment law at Bryan Cave London. The firm has continued to build up an impressive client list of predominantly City organisations, including Commerzbank and Monitise. High levels of client satisfaction have been reflected in the firm’s recent rankings in both Chambers & Partners and The Legal 500 for the first time, as well as it being shortlisted for two prestigious legal awards.

Chambers and Partners directory says of GQ: “This boutique enters the rankings for the first time this year on the back of its growing reputation for practical and savvy advice to clients on matters such as team moves, discrimination claims and the recruitment and termination of senior executives.” Paul Quain is described as a key individual who "gets an enormous amount done without ever appearing hurried”.

In turn, The Legal 500 comments: “The recently established GQ Employment Law LLP is ‘rapidly winning friends with its wise and imaginative handling of City employment law issues’.”
