Subcontractors and employment agencies will now have access to the Irish employment permit system. Elaine Egan says this is “a positive development and more reflective of modern and agile hiring practices”.
“Many global companies establishing in Ireland wish to have the option of relying on agencies rather than direct hires where appropriate – such as it the early stages of their activities in Ireland. This will also be an important change for businesses which rely on subcontractors and other third-party providers,” she adds.
“The new system will also benefit dependents, spouses, and partners of critical skills permit holders. They will be eligible to apply for an immigration permission granting them access to the labour market without the need to apply for a separate employment permit.”
