A Tribunal has found that a woman who was told she might be “better suited to a traditional estate agency” was discriminated against because of her age.

The estate agency had unsuccessfully argued that the employee, Carolina Gomes, was having performance issues and this was the focus of the discussions.

This case is a reminder that employers should be careful in using any words that could be considered to have a discriminatory undertone, even if they are not overtly discriminatory.
